It’s time to vote, Boise!
Voting looks a bit differently this year! After 2021 Redistricting, our districts, precincts, and polling locations are new!
Get your questions answered, and share this page to help make sure everyone has what they need to cast their vote this November!
Make your vote count! Check out these helpful links, resources, and FAQs before you cast your ballot!
Check your registration status before you vote! Pre-registration ends today, but you can register same-day at the polls when you go to vote. (This also counts for in-person early voting!) Click here to check you registration status.
You can request an absentee ballot here. If you’ve already requested your ballot, make sure to get your signed and dated ballot mailed or turned in to a secure 24/7 drop box. All ballots must be received by Ada County Elections by 8:00PM November 5 (after October 25th, I recommend hand delivering your ballot to a drop box). Track the status of your absentee ballot here.
If you don’t think you’ll be able to make it to vote on November 5 but still want the in-person voting experience, take a look at early in-person voting! Early voting is available at Ada County Elections (on Benjamin next to the driver’s license office), Boise, Meridian, and Kuna city halls, Eagle Public Library, and Library! at Bown Crossing. Any Ada County resident can vote at any of those locations. See below for more details on early in-person voting!
Some polling places might have changed, so make sure to confirm yours before you vote. If you are already registered to vote, you do not need to bring an ID. You can sign an affidavit instead of providing an ID. If you’re not already registered and will be registering at the polls, bring a valid photo ID and proof of residency.

What’s on the ballot?
There are a lot of things on the ballot this year. Be sure to vote all the way down your ballot.
Ada County Highway District Commissioner
Use the interactive map to determine which ACHD District you are in. Legislative District 17 (my district) is split across three different ACHD Districts: District 1, District 2, and District 4.

Voting FAQs
If I request an absentee ballot, can I still vote in person?
Yes! If you request an absentee ballot and decide you’d like to vote in person, you can take your ballot into your polling place and they will give you a new ballot to vote there.
How do I return my absentee ballot?
You need to sign and seal your ballot envelope before you turn it in!
Once you sign and seal, you can put it in the mail (and get it in as soon as possible - ballots have to be in hand at Ada County Elections by the time the polls close. Ballots postmarked by November 5 will not count if the Elections office doesn’t have them.)
If you want to hand-deliver it (or if you run out of time), you can turn it into one of the secure election drop boxes at Ada County Elections on Benjamin, or at the drop boxes outside the City Halls in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, or Star. Any Ada County voter can turn their ballot in at any of these locations.
Where do I vote on Election Day?
Can I register to vote at the polls?
Yes! You will go to the polling place for your precinct and tell them you need to register to vote. You will need to bring a valid photo ID and a proof of residency (like a utility bill).
What do I need to bring to the polls?
If you are already registered to vote, you do not need to bring an ID. You can sign an affidavit instead of providing an ID.
If you’re not already registered and will be registering at the polls, bring a valid photo ID and proof of residency.
Has the county received my absentee ballot?
You can check the status of your absentee ballot here.
When should I expect my ballot?
The county has already started mailing absentee ballots! Ballots will be sent out on a rolling basis as you request it through the deadline. You should expect to receive your ballot in 7-10 days after requesting it.
